Commedia Dell Arte was a theatre art form during the Italian Renaissance. The performers did not use a script. Instead they used a “scenario” to guide them in an improvised performance with “stock characters”. Attempting to connect our past with our present, you will create a “stock character” based on the genre of teen movies. We will call this “commedia dell High School”.

MORGANA - Goth Chic

Costume: Goth—Black dress, fishnet stockings, and dark make-up
Description: The Goth Chic is the
personification of the hurt and angry teen trying to rebel against authority. Goths are free thinkers, people who do not accept the moral rules of society . Often a Gothic individual prefers to listen to heavy metal. Although their outer appearance is dark, most Goth teens are extremely intelligent and caring. True Goths have no problem discussing taboo subjects like death, religion, magick, mysticism, and vampires.
Sample Dialogue:
(Morgana is sent to detention for listening to her iPod in class instead of the lecture. As she walks in she sees 5 other students and a teacher waiting to sign her in. The teacher asks her why was she sent to detention and she replies)
Morgana: These walls are like a cage made to imprison our soul, the desk a straight jacket, and our warden always watchful. Oppression! That is what this building represents. Just another ruse of society to brainwash and
control our existence. Try if you can! I laugh at your efforts.
Teacher: Ok then…..Please sign in and have a seat.

Main Objective: Morgana wants the students in detention to understand her point of view about freedom of expression. She doesn't want to be judged because of how she dresses but she refuses to be forced into what society calls “normal”. She also can’t stand the cheerleader who sleeps around with any guy to be popular (especially since the lover of her life, Steve, is infatuated with Carmen). Morgana will do anything to make Carmen’s life hell on earth.
Characters Name: Jenny the Nerd

Description: Jenny is a nerd that wants to explore the world and go beyond her shell. She wants to be like the popular kids at school. She longs for becoming the popular boy's girlfriend and reconstruct her image.
Costume: High pants two ponytails, big glasses, and very shy and timid. Jenny has bad body posture and no sense of style.
Sample Dialouge: (Jenny and Molly, her loner friend, is having a conversation about popularity.
Jenny: OH' how i long to be popular and enjoy all the fun with popular people.
Molly: Why be popular you should enjoy the skin your'e in.
The play continues with Jenny and Taylor (The Protagonist) having a conflict and Jenny confides in Taylors friend Buffy, who no longer wants to be her friend. Jenny and buffy become friends and buffy helps Jenny to a make over. Jenny then falls head over heels for Gnarley and he leaves Taylor to be with Jenny after she had new looks.
Antagonist: Taylor
Circle of Friends: Taylor and Buffy, Molly and Jenny, and Gnarley and Pete.
Jennys main objective is to become popular and she did acheive her goals.
Carmen-Conchita (chonga cheer leader)

Description: A group of students are in detention. Carmen is a slutty chonga cheerleader with no shame, her enemy is Morgana who is so dark and gloomy and has a negative comment for everything which irritates Carmen. Steven becomes infatuated with Carmen and Morgana ends up crushing on Steve but Conchita's extroverted personality will not allow her to hold her tongue. If she doesn't like something, she'll let you know.
Costume: Cheerleader
Sample Dialogue: I dunno, like i took a test you know? and ahh...I didn't pass, so i spoke to my teacher to retake and he wouldn't let me! So I decided to show some boobies, and whatever here I am!" "My cheerleading outfit stands for NER Northeastern Roosters.. I like to say Cocks!"

Circle of Friends: Tiffany & Steve. Roach and Maria are friends.
Main objective: A group of highschool students getting through detentioin with much drama. Morgana crushes on steve, Conchita is the slut cheerleader who only obsesses about one thing, and goth-chic Morgana is a dark individual with opinions of how society is forcing her to be normal. The different personalities unravel in detention.

Description: Maria is a quiet bookworm that would rather be in the library than anywhere else reading a book. She is friends with Roach because when Roach is high she is quiet or her skateboarding is a nice rhythm.
Costume: Tank top with a light over shirt comfortable jeans and sneakers
Dialog: "Oh finally they all left...I now have some peace and quiet to READ!"
Antagonist:Cheerleader
Circle of Friends: Her and Roach, sometimes Morgana
Main Objective: To resolve everyone problem in detention so that it will go faster so they could all leave and I would get some peace and quiet to read in.
Character Name: Tiffany

Description: Tiffany is the social girl, talking and socializing with everyone especially with the cheerleader. Tiffany is also the cheerleader’s confidence.
Costume: Fancy blouse, jeans shorts with gold sandals. Nice jewelry and sun glasses.
Dialog: I can’t believe the committee! They just don’t understand that neon pink and green are a terrible combination.
Antagonist: She doesn’t have antagonist.
Group of friends: Cheerleader and Goth Chic.
Main objective: Tiffany likes to make everybody feel good. Especially the cheerleader, who wasn’t really interested in Steven.

Main Objective: Get high by any means necessary, whether it be by sniffing glue, white out, paint, permanent markers, or smoking weed and taking pain killers.

COSTUME: Oxford, Skirt over jeans, back pack, notebook, pencil and frazzled hair.
DESCRIPTION: A psycho/spastic high-school girl who's often misunderstood and judged to be an outsider who spends her free time casually attending a detention session that she'll never forget.
DIALOG: I...I.....I had nothing else better to do over the weekend so I came here to detention I show up every now and then.
ANTAGONIST: Principal
GROUP OF FRIENDS: None really but towards the end the Jock has a bit of a crush on her.
MAIN OBJECTIVE: Being her unique self, not fitting in and hoping to make some new life long friends/memories along the way.
CHARACTER'S NAME: Gangster/Wangster

DESCRIPTION: Gangster/Wangster is a high school boy whose life was transformed from good to bad when his sister was killed in a drive-by shooting. He has an unforgiving attitude, is a troublemaker in school, and has been arrested several times. No he's trying to become reformed, stay in school, and learn how to get along with his peers.
ANTAGONIST: Pete and the Gang Members

MAIN OBJECTIVE: To afflict anyone that crossed his path with pain & injury
