Group 5-Developing a Character

What were you thinking when you had to make choices on how to portray your character? Did you think about: What is my character’s voice? How do I walk? How do I speak? What words do I choose? What costume does my character wear? Elaborate on your acting process in this exercise and the challenges you had to face in this performance.

  1. Well I had to learn both of the roles that I played the same night of the skit. With me being the only student that played two roles it was different but I was happy to have the responsibility. I did have to think about how would my character be. From something as simple as putting my hair up in a bun and putting glasses to the tip of my nose and then throwing on a big shirt, glasses off and swagger, I was able to change character just that quickly.

  2. I thought of an actual kid I knew in school who was a drugie. Since this person was a guy, I portrayed my character as a guy. I had to speak with a deep slow tone and move loosely as if I were high. My sunglasses were worn at all times in order to hide the fact that I'm high. The costume I wore was similar to what I would see the kid from school wore.
