  3. I identify with Tom and Jim. Tom because I know the weight of responsibility to care for your family both emotionally and financially. Jim because I have dreams and ambitions in my career which is why I work full time during the day and full time student at night.

I identify the least with Laura and Amanda. Laura because I have a speech impediment and as a child I allowed children and teacher to make me feel damaged. Then I decided to fight back, and click them all the bird! Amanda because as a mother I want the best for my daughter but her dreams, likes, dislikes and personality are her own. I aim to encourage independence, to fight for what she wants, and to be happy, not to live my dreams through her.

  4. Tom is more like me. My childhood was stifled with remarks that I should not go to college, I would never be able to live on my own, and it would be hard for me to find someone to love me. When I went to work, I had to give a big portion to the household - it was expected. I didn't get away from that until I met my second husband at 31. My first marriage was an elopement to get away from the tyranny - it lasted 8 months because I didn't know what type of person I needed. In my thirties, I found myself.

  5. In the Glass Menagerie I can identify myself with Tom because he was the provider of the family he knew that when his dad left he had to take care of his mom and sister. I can least identify with Tom and laura's mom because she was very aggressive and pushy she did not allow her children to live a life they choose. She made all decisions and the decisions made helped hurt the family tremendously.

  6. I am least like Amanda. The safest conclusion to draw is that Amanda is not evil but is deeply flawed. In fact, her flaws are centrally responsible for the tragedy, comedy, and theatrical flair of her character. I am more like Laura bacauseThe physically and emotionally crippled Laura is the only character in the play who never does anything to hurt anyone else. Despite the weight of her own problems, she displays a pure compassion.

  7. I can identify my self with Laura, not that I keep to my self and play with glass animals, but I like to be in my own world sometimes. I like to walk around, I don’t have to be going anywhere in particular but I like walking. Also I used to be self-conscious about my self.
I cannot relate with Tom, no matter how annoying my mother my be I could never treat her and make her live threw what their father did again by doing it myself.

  8. The person that I can identify with in the Glass Menagerie is Tom. I know what it like to feel responsible for someone and you do not want that responsibility .I can say I least identify myself with Amanda because she is pushy and controlling. She does not care about anyone but her own needs and dreams

  9. I identify most with Tom. I always tended to be independent and self-conscious of my own thoughts and desires. I have pursued many things in spite of what my parents have to think, just as Tom did when he ran away to start his playwrighting career.
I identify least with Amanda because I would never force anyone to do something they don't want to. I don't control anyone's life but my own, and Amanda is just too pushy for me to associate with.

  10. I can identify more with Tom because I know how it feels like wanting to do something but feels held back do to all of the responsiblity on he his back taking can of his family. At the end I would just want to runaway too.
I can not identify to Amanda because no matter how much you love and care for your kids, its not her choice to decide what they want to do with there life. And she expect Laura to do everything that she wish she could of done but didnt. She is just overall to controlling.

  11. I really identify with the mother. This play made me realize I am very involved, maybe overly involved in my children's lives. I least identiy with Tom. Tom hates his life with his family and wants to leave. I really love being around my family and could not think of leaving them, especially my ederly mother.

  12. I can identify with Tom, wanting to be out all night just to get away from home. I can also identify with more of the clingyness of Amanda to Laura (we need to, our future) because my mom sometimes slips and says some sort of thing like that...

I least identify with Amanda and Laura...too clingy or too spacey...I like my head on my shoulders thank you very much

  13. I can relate with Tom and Laura because I too grew up in a home with an alcoholic parent and I am very familiar with the anxiety, the depression, the insecurities, and the desperate needs of children in this kind of environment.
It is difficult to relate to Amanda because as a mother I can't imagine treating my children the way she did. Obviously it was out of her own unhappiness and desperation, but all it did was cause more of a disaster.

  15. I can somewhat identify with the mother because being a mother with seven children and three grands, I can sometimes become overbearing, but not delirious. I can also identify with Tom because being responsible for my loved ones takes much sacrifice, especially when you carry the load by yourself. I can't identify with Amanda; I'm very outgoing and love to associate with other.

  17. In the play “The Glass Menagerie” I most identify with Laura because she is the only character in the play that never does anything to hurt anyone else, and I do too. Every day I try very hard to be careful what to say and what to do to my children, parents, brothers and sisters, coworkers, classmates, etc. avoiding hurting them.
I identify at least with Amanda’s character because she spends much of her time reviling her past days as a southern belle and her paranoia of being alone, so she keeps herself surrounded by the menagerie and her memories. I don’t like to spend much time remembering my past. I prefer to live the present and make plans for the near future. Plus I am living by myself for more than 12 years, and I am very comfortable doing that.

  18. I would identify most with the mother. Besides her short comings, she loves her children dearly. She is a protector and caregiver. She is also strong in her beliefs. I least identify with Tom because he did nothing to rescue his sister from the hell she suffered in the asylum.

  19. Definitely I would have to say I myself, identify the best with Tom simply because of his whole mindset that he has and as a single character, Tom is full of contradiction, he reads literature, writes poetry, and dreams of escape, adventure, and higher things which isn't to far from my mindset. I would also, like to say I identify a bit with Laura as well to a certain extend how she so delicately is frightened by the outside world along with all the people in it, and I love her sweet little glass menagerie set that is really a resemblance of how she sees herself specifically the (unicorn).
