Group 4 -Developing a Character

What were you thinking when you had to make choices on how to portray your character? Did you think about: What is my character’s voice? How do I walk? How do I speak? What words do I choose? What costume does my character wear? Elaborate on your acting process in this exercise and the challenges you had to face in this performance.

  1. I had to think on what board shorts to wear and i let my group come up with my characters roll in the play. to be honesti wasnt really thinking much of anything when playing the character. when i act or go into a speech, i kinda just blur out and talk. some how it all just comes together.only challenge i had was making sure i remembered the character names in my group. evrything else was pretty simple because i had a great group.

  2. I was thinking longers act shy. What makes them a loner. Do they choose to be loners or is it by circumstance? When playing this role I felt a loner would be meek and shy, and would not have much of a voice, speak very low. I feel as though a loner would wear clothing that would not bring too much attention to them, such as jeans and a shirt.

  3. I chose to play the "wanabe" because I work at a school and I see this character being played out more than any other. I decided to copy everything that the "cool girl" did, because that is what I see the kids in my school doing. They dress the same, talk the same, walk the same, etc. I see this as being a pathetic way to see ones self. Never really being who you really are. It wasn't very much of a challenge because I'm ashamed to admit that I remember being this way when I was in high school.

  4. After taking careful consideration on my character, I decided to change my voice to sound like a male and thought about what my character should wear. I decided to wear black jeans, a t-shirt, boots with chains, a headband and dark glasses. My male acting partner and I elaborated on our dialogue/role; it was fun and hilarious creating our characters together. My greatest challenge was listening to my classmates while collaborating and agreeing with them selecting the parts for the scenes.
